Frequently Asked Questions
As we are a small family company we endeavour to offer advice and change our buildings to suit your requirements. Some of the questions we are commonly asked are answered below, however if your question is not listed here please do not hesitate to contact us and we will do our best to help.
1. Can you adapt the building for me slightly?
All our buildings are made to order and therefore they can be changed to suit your requirements. Some of the changes we have done in the past include;- extra boarding to the base of the run, pop hole in the run area to release the birds instead of using the wire door, changing the side of the pop hole, no nest boxes, higher perches, changing the pitch of the roof and so on
2. Are your buildings fox proof?
Nothing is completely fox proof as foxes are incredibly determined, however our buildings are very well built and the wire is prime quality not Chinese quality so the chances of a fox getting in are extremely unlikely. If the pop hole is down a fox won't be able to get in the house, however the houses with the runs are designed so that you can keep the pop hole open and the birds can put themselves to bed. So long as the run is moved every 2 -3 weeks this should deter foxes from digging, however we can supply a wire floor or a wire skirt to go around the outside of the run if required.
3. Do you have any agents near us?
Unfortunately we are a one man band apart from one agent in Kent (www.churchmans.co.uk).
4. Can we visit your workshop to view the buildings?
We have a limited amount of buildings on display so it is better to contact us first to see if we have the particular building you are wanting to look at. However you are more than welcome to visit the site to see the quality of our work. We are open every week day 9.30 am. - 4.30 pm. You can come at weekends, however we do ask that you contact us to arrange an appointment so we can make sure we are here.
5. Can we collect from your workshop?
We manufacture all the buildings to order, so there is no stock held. However you can order your building over the telephone and arrange to collect it from us. We ask that you ensure that the vehicle you intend to collect with is of a suitable size and that you bring sufficient straps to secure the load.
6. Can you deliver on a particular day for me?
We do our utmost to deliver on a day that will suit you. We do group our deliveries together so it is more than likely that your building will be on a load with 2 - 3 others. Therefore we have to organise the deliveries so that it is convenient to all parties, sometimes this is not possible. We can deliver when you are not at home, however we do ask for balance payment prior to the delivery date.
7. Can you deliver at a time that will suit me?
As we are based in Shropshire our delivery team usually has quite a long drive to get to their delivery location. They set off from the yard at either 5 or 6 am. in the morning, we try to complete all the deliveries by 2 pm. and then be on our way back to the yard to beat the rush hour. Therefore we do our best to deliver at a suitable time for you, but ask that you take into account the distance we are travelling. When we ring you to confirm the date we give you a 2 hour delivery slot to expect your building.
8. Are the buildings delivered in flat sections or as a built unit?
We always deliver the buildings in flat sections and then assemble them on site if you are opting for the erection service.
9. Are they difficult to erect?
If you are quite good at D.I.Y. you should find the assembly relatively easy. We don't pre-drill the pilot holes whilst we are making them, this is all done on site so you would require a power drill and then the frames screw together. The roofing sheets are separate as well so it is a case of nailing these on the roof runners. All the screws etc. are provided and instructions as to how to assemble, and of course we are at the end of the telephone should you require any help.
10. What size is the delivery van?
We use a 3.5 tonne flat bed van to deliver the buildings on. It is 7.3m long by 2.3m wide.
11. How long will it take the team to erect my building?
The smaller units with the runs take 1 - 1.5 hours, the larger houses and the field shelters take between 3 - 5 hours, and the stables take up to 7 hours. Larger projects are delivered and erected over 2 days.
